Soccer is a rapidly changing game nationally and worldwide. One of the changes becoming popular nationally is called short sided soccer. This type of soccer is proven to be beneficial to players and coaches worldwide. It changes the number of players on the field per team and the size of the fields for soccer games. At the U7 and U8 level, 4 players per team (4 v 4) has been used by the Hartford and Slinger teams, without a goalie. Hartford teams also use a 3 v 3 U6 format, without a goalie. Short sided soccer means that each individual should have the same opportunity to develop their soccer skills as their teammates. Since the teams in the rest of the league are adopting short sided soccer at the lower grades, the Erin Soccer Club will use the 4v4 type for U-7 and U-8 players.
